BPEC Water Regulations and Water Byelaws Course
The Course covers thirteen learning modules: background and legislation; the Regulations; materials and substances in contact with water; requirements for water fittings; water system design and installation; commissioning (flushing, testing and disinfection); prevention of cross connection to unwholesome water; backflow prevention; cold water services; hot water services; WCs, flushing devices and urinals; sanitary appliances; water for outside use.
Who is the Course aimed at?
Experienced plumbers who want to become approved contractors for water undertakers, local authorities, housing associations etc. The Course is also suited to others who inspect or design plumbing installations for compliance with the current water regulations.
Why should I attend this Course?
Under the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, water undertakers can appoint approved contractors for the area they cover. Holding a BPEC/WRAS Certificate should prove that your knowledge of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 is good enough for you to become an approved contractor provided you meet the other criteria laid down by the water undertakers.
Approved contractors do not need to notify certain installations that non-approved contractors must notify. Water undertakers will compile lists of approved contractors, which the general public will use, and it is possible that local authorities and housing associations will insist that plumbing contractors are approved contractors.
