AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

What is a Heat Pump

A heat pump is an electric, energy efficient heating system that extracts heat from the outside and circulates it inside your home. Rather than burning fossil fuels to generate heat, an air source heat pump captures heat from the outside air and uses a compressor to raise its temperature to warm your home and provide hot water. Even when it’s cold, there is still enough heat in the air to use.

Heat pumps are more energy efficient than traditional boiler systems because they move heat rather than generate it. For every unit of electricity used, you can get three to four times as much heat compared to a traditional heating system. That means heat pumps offer homeowners an efficient, low carbon way to heat their homes and maintain optimal thermal comfort, while reducing energy bills. Some heat pumps also offer reversible systems that can circulate chilled water through the same pipework used for heating to cool homes in hot weather.

An air-to-air heating and cooling system is a type of heat pump that provides thermal comfort all year round. In winter, the system extracts heat from the air outside and circulates warm air indoors through indoor units. In summer, the system reverses the process by removing heat from your home, providing efficient cooling. Air-to-air heat pumps ensure comfortable temperatures inside your home throughout the seasons.
