Meet the team – Getting to know Annette Murphy

This weeks’ meet the team interview is with Annette, who joins us as Area Sales Manager. With a rich background in sales, she already feels at home within the Alpha team.

How did you start out in sales?

Sales has always been close to my heart. My dad was a huge influence on me. He sold horses so buying and selling was something I grew up with. I also love working with people.

I’ve been in the heating and plumbing industry now for about eight years, mostly on the manufacturer side. I’ve really enjoyed working in this close-knit community. But I’ve not always worked in the industry, though. I’ve run pubs, sold clothing, and done all sorts. But the common thread has been working with people.

Why did you make the move to Alpha?

My previous role was becoming more focused on the retail side of the business, which isn’t something that I enjoy. I’ve always preferred working with installers and that’s something I could focus on by joining the Alpha team. I’ve got a lot of experience working with merchants, which is great, but really I wanted to focus on installers.

When I started my new job search, I kept coming across really strong reviews for Alpha, both for its products and its work culture. Quite a few people recommended speaking with the Alpha team so I knew I had to meet with Richard and it snowballed from there.

What are some of the things which excite you most about Alpha?

Certainly the product range. There is consistent feedback that the products are great to install and customers always have positive things to say about them. It’s also really positive to see more innovation coming through in terms of Hybrid systems. There is more of a buzz around these types of systems so the challenge is trying to capitalise on that and bringing more installers along on that sustainable journey.

Following that, it’s exciting meeting all of the new customers. The breakfast mornings, InstallerSHOW, and local events have all been great in getting me valuable face-to-face time with installers. I want to make sure I’m giving the best possible service to my customers so I really want to get around to see everyone.
