From incidences of furlough, to temporary closures, many of us have been off work recently. However, installers found themselves amongst that select group of trades not necessarily forced to cease operations entirely. Those who have had a busy few months keeping the country going in one form or another could be forgiven for wanting a day off the tools.

The average construction professional works a lot. In fact, it’s normally around 38 hours a week – nearly six hours more than the typical worker. These long working hours can lead to elevated stress levels, especially in a turbulent period such as this. That’s why it is so crucial to take regular days off, allowing yourself some respite from the daily grind.

If you are able, it is also good to factor in some time off the tools to help with your personal development. It may seem strange but taking a day off can actually help you to get better at your job by allowing you to take advantage of training schemes available to you. Nowadays, there are a number of high-quality training resources on offer to those in the trades, especially in the domestic installation sector. From courses, to online seminars, there is something for everyone.

Under normal circumstances we would be in the middle of our annual season of hands-on installer training at our various centres around the country. Unfortunately, we are still not in a position to welcome customers to participate in these group sessions, but like many businesses we have adapted and created an online webinar hosted by one of our knowledgeable product engineers, Jonathan Kidner. To view this at a time that’s convenient for you, sign up here.

If you’re looking for help with something specific, then it’s worth heading over to our YouTube channel. We have a number of great videos, which can help you get to grips with various boilers and accessories from our range. From how to commission an E-Tec Plus, to a step-by-step guide on boiler controller installation, we’ve got some great tips to help you when you are on-site. We have been adding to the channel regularly for several years so there is now a wealth of information on it. If you’re taking a day off from work and stuck for something to watch, we would definitely recommend taking a look.

Alternatively, our website is always a great place to visit, especially if you are looking for the latest product information and installation guides. At Alpha, we are always looking for new ways to present our technical information in an engaging manner, so welcome any feedback on how we can support you in familiarising yourself with our range of solutions.
