WHY I TRAINED WITH ALPHA

15 April 2016

Having completed a year’s work experience with Alpha’s service and repairs team, 22 year-old Linzie Reynolds is getting ready to go out on her own!
She’s still going to be working alongside Alpha engineers as a dedicated Service Agent, so here is our introduction of you to her! Check out what she had to say about her time training with Alpha:
My parents run a small central heating business called BGHC and are Alpha Select installers in Scotland, so I knew Alpha and had heard great things about its products through them. I knew I wanted to focus more on the boiler servicing and repairing element but BGHC specialises in installing boilers specifically. So – I turned to Alpha!

I knew Alpha would offer a great environment for my work experience, so I was delighted when an opportunity finally came up to work with them. It was towards the beginning of 2015 when I started shadowing one of Alpha’s own Service Engineers, Vic Sandham, for a couple of days per week. I worked alongside Vic for a year so I learnt a lot and took notes of how Vic prepared for service and repairs jobs.

At the same time, I had gained a placement at South Lanarkshire College and completed a full time course throughout my work experience. It really helped to give my training a hands-on element.

Now that I have my full gas qualifications, it means that I can now work on gas systems and deal with customers to ensure we are providing high quality services and repairs. I now work for a local company fitting gas appliances and conducting installations all over the country, conducting annual servicing for my dad’s customers, as well as carrying out landlord gas safety checks and issuing certificates.

I really appreciate the knowledge, time and patience Vic has shown to me and enjoy working within this enviroment.
