At the start of 2021, Alpha announced a new charity partnership with Centrepoint, the UK’s leading charity for homeless young people, and already have good news in first support update. With plans to donate at least £10,000 by the end of the year, we are pleased to reveal that £2,760 has already been raised so far.
Since the launch of this new partnership, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has restricted our ability to carry out in-person fundraising events. However, with Jack Senior back in action on the European Tour, we’ve already seen a welcome boost by once again linking donations to his performance – specifically the number of birdies and eagles he scores at each tournament.
In addition, those who tune in to our social media channels may have seen our #CharityTuesday giveaways with prize bundles to be won and a £5 donation from Alpha to Centrepoint for every correct entry. We’ll be continuing these posts throughout the year so make sure you follow us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for your chance to take part.
Following the UK government’s provisional roadmap out of lockdown, Alpha has been planning a number of events that will hopefully be able to take place in the second half of the year. Plus, we’re optimistic that Centrepoint’s own Sleep Out event in November will be able to go ahead, in which case a team from Alpha will be grabbing their sleeping bags and experiencing what it’s like to sleep rough for one night in order to raise awareness as well as money for Britain’s young homeless.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for everyone, Centrepoint has seen a significant increase in calls to its helpline. With young people most at risk of losing their jobs, the charity’s services have never been more vital to provide young people in need with safe accommodation, health support and life skills to get their future’s back on track.
Catherine Lawrence at Alpha commented: “By the end of 2021, we hope to raise at least £10,000 to help Centrepoint continue to change the lives of young people across the UK. While the pandemic has limited our fundraising activities with Centrepoint so far this year, we are delighted to have donated £2,760 already and are looking forward to announcing further campaigns and events in partnership with the charity later this year.”
