Alpha has been at the forefront of promoting the benefits of the high efficiency boiler over its standard efficiency equivalent for a long time. So we are delighted with the Government’s recent announcement regarding its new Boiler Scrappage Scheme.

It’s hoped that the scheme will encourage up to 125,000 households in England to upgrade their inefficient SEDBUK Band ‘G’ rated boilers.

Figures from the Government suggest that the scheme could enable households to reduce their household fuel bills by between £200 and £235 per year. It also estimates that replacing 125,000 Band ‘G’ rated boilers could result in an annual CO2 emissions reduction of around 140,000 tonnes – the equivalent of taking 45,000 cars off the road.

These aren’t the only benefits – the subsequent additional workload will also come as a welcome boost to everyone in the UK’s heating industry – which includes an estimated 130,000 installers.

Applications can now be made to the Energy Saving Trust for a voucher worth up to £400 off the price of a new Band ‘A’ rated boiler or a renewable heating system.
